Adjective Fun

My husband and I like to play the alphabet game.  You know where you think up a topic, or word usage, or theme and then go through naming things in order of each letter of the alphabet.    We do actor's names, movies, places we'd live to visit, places we've lived, verbs or adjectives with X number of syllables, things we are grateful for in our lives, or dealer's choice.  The other night I came up with the topic of adjectives of at least 2 syllables that described my husband.  We had a fun time playing and the adjectives just flowed—gregarious, loving, charming, warm-hearted, and outrageous. So, last night he suggested we do the same with adjectives describing me. First of all, it was really hard to think of adjectives describing myself.  Secondly, all the ones we thought of (especially from him) were so boring.  I got things like:  accountable, responsible, organized, persevering, loyal, earnest, questioning, and thoughtful....

The Table

To be honest, I wrote this a few years ago, but I ran across it this morning and wanted to share. I am a solid wood kitchen table.  I am made of sturdy pine and have 4 legs.  I have long outlasted the chairs that came with me to this home.  I like it here.  The people I live with love me.  I am very strong and have nice rounded edges.  I am easy and comfortable for people to lean on.  I know they are grateful I am here and so reliable.  I spend half my time clean and shining and welcoming all who sit around me to eat, talk, play games, sort papers, read, do homework, and pay bills.  It is heartening to hear the laughter and feel the love when friends are gathered around me playing games and talking.  Sometimes when folks are in a hurry, they leave a big mess all over me and I am covered in newspapers, crumbs, cell phones, mail, and post its.  I can be formal or casual.  I love when I am all dressed up in holiday f...
