I am becoming more and more a fan of Up with Steve
Kornacki. I loved Up when Chris Hayes
was the host and thought it was an interesting show that discussed issues in
depth with guests that had boots on the ground perspectives. In other words, not the usual round of
talking heads. I quickly became a
Saturday and Sunday regular.
I knew of Steve Kornacki from his spots on The Rachel Maddow
Show. I liked the historical information
he gave in each segment he appeared in.
Then he guest hosted Up and I was very impressed with the job he did juggling
4 guests and keeping the conversation informative and flowing.
I was pleased when he got the job of permanent host when
Chris Hayes moved to prime time. It took
a few months of adapting for him to make the show his own and not just a new
face in Chris Haye's chair. And he has
done it.
Up with Steve Kornacki is unique because Steve does a
complete historical analysis of an issue before it is discussed by the guests
and he varies the number of guests at a time.
I always learn something when I watch the show and I am a student of
history. I know that there are network
requirements to fill and many of the guests have to be from the MSNBC
contributors ranks, but I am pleased to see some guests who are on the front
lines of working for or against the issue being discussed. Steve handles the flow of conversation and
the discord with aplomb.
Steve's enthusiasm, and interest are contagious. He has made news fun. I love the Up Against the Clock game show
segment each week. I chuckle at Steve's
game show host jacket and compete along with the contestants. I just wanted to write about something that
gives me so much to think about and in an interesting and pleasant way. I especially like that Steve is not screaming
at me or ranting at me. He is presenting
information. And I must admit, his genuineness is so
refreshing I believe in integrity in journalism again.
